Default Fuel pump shorted out. now random bog help please

Long story short.

My fuel pump wire under seat near cover shorted out on chassis. When this happened car died and i pushed it off the road. Fixed the short. <- exposed wire the rubber shielding was rubbed off from vibration?

Since the short i have been getting random bogs/ studdering from car. random meaning sometimes upon startup the idle is rough rev it a bit then idles fine. other times ill be driving along normal and car will bog for a second or two then drive right back fine. the idle issue only happened once. The more often occurrence is the random bog at various RPMS and Speed. Some days it will happen 4-6 times while driving. some days will not do it and run fine.

about 75% of the time car runs great boosts fine but when it bogs/ stutters or dies at red light i can fire her back up and she will run fine.

Ill list the things i have tried

new coil, new ICM, new fuel filter, cleaned IACV, .

Also NO CEL at all car will just randomly stutter or bog.

Also since this has happened my MPG sucks was about 23-27 now i am barely pushing 17mpg anywhere.

i always run 92 octane. Next i was going to try Fuel pump and Main relay. I know both should be fine since the car will drive most of the time normal.

but when the short happened there was a lot of smoke and a quarter sized glowing ball when i pulled up the back seat.

info on car.

1999 Integra LS
drag turbo kit
Chipped p75
600cc injectors

I am honestly perplexed the issues only started after the short/small fire. I checked the wire loom and harness near the pump looks good and tested with VOLT meter.

Don't know where to go from here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Get an in dash fuel pressure gauge and monitor your fuel pressure when the car bogs. What are your afr's while it bogs? Did you replace the fuel pump?

No have not tried pump yet. But I have one ready just haven't had a chance to throw it in. But from all the posts I have searched I was going off a fuel pump is either bad (not pumping) or good (pumping)

I may need to look into the fuel pressure gauge if this is not figured out soon.

Also did a comp check and came up with 195 across all 4 cly.

not true. pumps can become weak over time. inside the pump are cummutator bars, just like a starter. these bars make contact with brushes. if the brushes become contaminated, or a cummutator bar becomes open, it will result in a weak pump

A short of the power lead to the fuel pump would "overload" the fuel pump relay contacts burning them, because the fuse did not blow, my guess is most of that short was "dissipated" as heat at the relay contacts, I would install another PGM-FI Main Relay or at least pull the relay, remove cover and clean the contacts, you can use a points file, your GFs emery board or just a piece of emery cloth, [fine] and see if it fixes the problem. 94

Correct. But if the brushes on the motor are worn or heated up cause of the short wouldint it be bogging all the time by not getting enough fuel?

This is really bugging me cause its so random.

I am going to swap out the pump. I think ive ruled out the Main relay cause i hooked up a 12v light to it and ran it to my dash and when it studded this morning the light stayed on without dimming so the main relay is sending constant 12v to the pump.

Will be trying new plugs and plug wires here on the weekend to rule them out too.
