I have a 2006 Accord Sedan ex with 75k miles and 4-cyl. engine. I just put on 4 new Michelin Primacy tires that were all roadforced balanced. Two wheels up front are new. Technician says two wheels in the back roll good on machine. Alignment done at Honda dealership. Air pressure is 32psi all away around. Everything is smooth but the car feels bumpy coming from the rear of car 20-40mph. This bumpy sensation also was present from previous Firestone tires. Is this typical for this car? My 98 Accord never felt bumpy at all and I put over 200k miles on it before i wrecked it. At higher speeds car is smooth. Tires and wheels are all OEM. All responses appreciated.

 

If you haven't yet, check your struts for leaks. The new Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires I just put on my Accord are a vast improvement over the previous Bridgestones.

 

Struts not leaking. Is your accord somewhat bumpy at slower speeds (<45mph)?

 

1) Bought the car from a private owner (grandma who hit curbs alot) 3 months ago.

2) bumpy sensation is more "boat-like" up and down sensation.

3) struts seem to be tight and solid with no leaks.

Bought the car 3 months ago from an original owner (grandma) who did hit curbs alot. I had to replace the driver side wheel bearing because of roaring noise by a local Honda dealership. I replaced 2 wheels with OEM ones and put them up front. One was bent and the other was scuffed up badly. I also replaced all four tires with expensive Michelin Primacy MXV4's.
Car now drives very smooth and quiet except for a bumpy ride at slower speeds. I can feel this bumpiness especially under driver seat. I'm thinking maybe another wheel in the back is bent but the local tire place claim they were ok. This is really a nice car with only 75k miles. This is the only issue with the car. All responses appreciated.

 

It sounds like a balance issue. You could rotate the tires (front to back) and see if the vibration moves to the steering wheel. If it stays in the back, perhaps a bearing issue?

 

Today I had a Honda Service Assistant Manager with 20 years experience test drive my car. He does not see a problem, but feels some bumpiness. Tires and wheels are ok for sure. He told me he thinks struts are ok too, and they rarely go bad on this vehicle. Anybody else experience a bumpy ride? It's like I can feel every bump on the road. All responses appreciated.

 

Try another honda service center. It's likely a out of balance issue or warped rotors.
