Sandy Gas Tank Questions
I bought a new gas tank for my build, and I decided I wanted to have it powder coated to keep it from rusting. The guy to did the powder coating didn't plug any holes before sandblasting it. I've rinsed it with water (and let it dry in the sun) and tried blowing it out with compressed air and a vacuum. It is still a little gritty inside, though not as bad as it was. How clean does it need to be? How much sand is tolerable? What ways are best for cleaning the inside of a gas tank? Should I drop $100 on another new tank and just paint it myself?
I dont think you need a new tank, just keep rinsing it. I have seen some pretty nasty tanks run, there is a filter on the pump but the cleaner you can get it the better but some is ok. You do pick up some crud when you fill up..but thats why you have filters in the system.
