Default Rhd EF7 Distributor plug on engine harness doesnt match new dizzy plug

Hey guys, noticed my first problem with my swap this morning. I have an 89 EF7 Si. Comes from the factory with a Dohc Zc OBD0. I pulled that stock motor out and am swapping in a D16A6 (built and to be boosted) but noticed when I had the motors sitting side by side the disributor plugs arent the same, and the A6 dizzy has 7 wires versus the Dohc Zc only having 5 coming from the distributor.

This is the engine wiring harness

And this is the female plug on the D16a6 distributor (I believe its a TD18U I should have wrote it down)

So Im not exactly sure how to tackle this as Ive never had a harness not match up before (Ive only done factory replacement swaps)

Im also a little worried as to why the engine harness only has 5 wires going to the plug while the D16a6 distributor has 7 going to its plug. Could it be because the DOHC zc has a external cam sensor that the d16a6 doesnt have? I figured that would be left unplugged on the A6 but maybe I need to repin its wires? Maybe I need to hunt down a car in the junkyard to cut its harness

Any help would be greatly appreciated, searching isnt getting me many hits and results.

I dont really get what you mean, the engine harness plug wont fit the distributor plug.

Im assuming, I can cut the square male 5 pin plug off of the engine harness, cut a male 7 wire connector off of a D16a6 USDM harness in the junkyard( with a good length of pigtail ) , Match the 5 wires that come from the original JDM harness.

But then I will still be left needing 2 wires to go into the plug, where will they come from? Ive searched for a diagram or any talk on this and couldnt find anything on here or google

Thanks so far guys

those two wires go to the cam sensor on the zc harness. on the sohc they moved that sensor inside the distributor afaik.

you dont have to cut your stock harness. its simple really. depin your harness plug. and repin the wires into the matching plug for the new distributor. next position the cam sensor wires into the open slots on the new plug. simple. no actual re wiring is needed.

i was incorrect earlier when i said run the needed wires to the ecu, because the wiring is already there. you just have to move it over to the 1 distrbutor plug

Ok Ill keep looking for a proper pinout diagram for the A6 engine distributor harness I suppose, cant find one anywhere and cant understand the FSM language

Never done any "re-pinning" either but I can figure that out. Just need to know where to put the wires

Assuming I figured it out. I found a D16a6 at the junkyard so before I depinned the connector I needed I wrote down all the colors going to it.

Then I depinned the square 5 pin plug, and 2 wire came angle sensor, and was slightly amazed that I now had the proper 7 colors. I figured they would have been colored differently, or that the connector pins would have been different. But they were the same

Pinned those 7 wires into the new connector. Everything seems ok...

Havent started the car yet because theres no engine in there obviously, but that should be everything right?

I noticed the cam sensor wires were wrapped in a sleeve that was lined with lots of strands of bare wire. Any reason to this? I had to cut that sleeving and wiring wrap away to relocate those wires to the other part of the harness. I havent buttoned the harness back up yet with loom and tape yet though
