Default CEL po300 and p2647...anyone had this before??

trying to help my brother in law out here so im reaching out to my honda-tech master mechanics. lol. but yeah, he was driving around 45mph on the road and then the cel popped up. he started to feel the car lag and started to feel loss in power like it was misfing. He went to honda and got it diagnosed, they said that the code was p0300 (misfire), cleared the codes and test drove and cel p0300 came back on. MAP is at 1.12 and 1.22 at times. Performed leakdown test and found #2 and #3 20% Leakdown. Recommend removing cylinder head for inspection by machine shop. Customer approved removing head. Upon removing valve cover, tech found hard finish worn off camshaft lobes. They performed a valve adjustment and then called my bnl. At this moment my brother in law called me to go with him to honda to check it out and yeah the camshafts were pretty worn, probably from lack of valve adjustments. Then Honda recommended that he change out the motor which will cost about $4k-$6k which my bnl didn't have. So we told honda that we'll get a second opinion from somewhere else. We brought it home and i pulled the code again and it showed p2647-a rocker arm actuator control system stuck on (bank 1). that was the only code that showed and nothing saved?

So here we are, getting ready to take the head off but we want to make sure its the head again because its not misfiring, idles fine now after the valve adjustment. But i just dont know how to fix this p2647 code is. anyone who knows please shine some light and thank you in advance.

thanks for the reply. did a comp test today and it came back 235 on 3 cylinders but the 4th cylinder had 180. DAMN! We're half way to getting the head off already and going back at it tomorrow. i'll update once we get the head off and to the machine shop for inspection.

Google "Honda OEM parts". There are several good online dealers. I usually use this one: http://www.hondapartscheap.com/index.php?p=home

i sanded it down a little bit so you can't really see it anymore but will this be fine or would sanding down the whole top of block be better?

and this is why people who dont know what theyre doing shouldnt be tearing apart engines...its probably going to have to go to a machine shop now and hopefully it can be salvaged and you didnt do any permenant damage

Take it to the machine shop to be surfaced properly.

i understand that, but this is not the engine to be "learning" on...measurements on everything on this engine are very, very precise and it doesnt take much to **** them up
