OK guys, as of now, I’m debating the b16a vs. the b16a2. I know that the b16a2 is much more expensive because it has a hydro tranny vs. the 1st gen cable tranny…and so I have a question…Are the hydro trannys really THAT much better ? My friend said you can’t really feel to much of a difference in the response…and as for the hydro, what are the advantages, and what are the disadvantages of a cable…BTW, thanks in advance guys,

Oh yeah, this is going to be a daily driver, NOT a Ľ monster , so I don’t expect astronomical hp numbers, just a little more zip than my eg civ I got right now…Thanks

***I did use the search first, but nothing came up ***

Well, a hydraulic clutch usually feels a bit smoother. There's really not an advatage to either, really. My last car had a cable clutch and one time the cable broke. But with a hydraulic clutch, you will probably have to replace the master and slave cylinders eventually.

But really, they might as well be the same thing when you're driving. It's just a different method of seperating the clutch disk from the flywheel. No real advantages to each. Though I will say I like the hydraulic clutch in my Accord much better than the cable one that I had in my Escort before

GRRRR Withat attitude sucks

To answer your question you may want to start off by telling us what car you have??? If the car has a cable clutch system already you are going to stay with the cable trans. If your car is a hydro style then you have a choice a cable trans will work or a hydro trans will work with a conversion kit.
Here is my guess.....because you are asking about the differences between a first gen B16A and a second gen B16A, I bet you are planning a swap into a 92 or newer Civic. Obviously you did not search that well because there is a load of topics on this very information. The second gen B16A is NOT that much more expensive than converting a first gen B16A engine to your 92+ Civic. The reasons why are easily found with some searching.
Go with the second gen B16A it will save you the headaches associated with using a first gen B16A.

Really there is not alot of difference between the cable and hydro clutch systems. The cable systems can be adjusted alittle but I've never found it to be a big advantage personally. I like the hydro clutch in my 95 Civic it works just fine......but so did the cable clutch in my CRX.

Oh yea and try asking more nicely next time....it does wonders
