**Help out guys*** whats better in the transmission world?
I know this is supposed to be in tech, and I did put in there..but no one has responded to it yet, and I think you guys wouldk know this better anway..-->
OK guys, as of now, I’m debating the b16a vs. the b16a2. I know that the b16a2 is much more expensive because it has a hydro tranny vs. the 1st gen cable tranny…and so I have a question…Are the hydro trannys really THAT much better ? My friend said you can’t really feel to much of a difference in the response…and as for the hydro, what are the advantages, and what are the disadvantages of a cable…BTW, thanks in advance guys,
Oh yeah, this is going to be a daily driver, NOT a ¼ monster, so I don’t expect astronomical hp numbers, just a little more zip than my eg civ I got right now…Thanks
***I did use the search first, but nothing came up***

the cable has a really tight ratio...going 70 on the freeway my rpm's are at 4000 in 5th....i like the tight ratios..but this tranny would not be the one for you if you do a lot of freeway driving..and mileage is a concern...and sometimes my clutch pedal is inconsistent because of the cable conversion....i am not sure if its just my car and how my setup is....

depends on the gearing of the tranny....the only noticeable differences between the cable and hydro trannys is gonna be clutch depression and engagement, or response.....in my opinion, i'd go with the hydro tranny becuase your EG already has the components (clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder) to do the swap---i heard the cable conversion is a pain in the *** too....hydro trannys do tend to be more responsive than cable trannys though, go figure, why is it that every vehicle has hydro brakes and not cable brakes, heh

the cable is more likely to fail than the hydraulic lines/slave cylinder. I personally have broken 2 clutch cables, one on a 87 Sentra and one on a early 90's Audi. Get the second gen, and then you won't have to worry about clutch conversion, wiring, and such.

yeah thats another thing, in my 99 neon RT i broke 2 clutch cables too.....hydro lines are more tolerant to torture than cables are

Get the hydro. Your car is alredy set up for it and a first gen motor will be obd0, wich is a bitch to convert. Get the a2, it will be a newer motor too.
