Default Oil pump? How long should it last?

I know this is a very generalized question but how long on average do oil pumps last? I was told that they should last the life of the car; if maintained of course.

My current bone-stock 95 Civic LX is going in for two major services tomorrow. It's getting a timing belt and clutch replacement. I'm way overdue for servicing; the car has 152,000miles on it and the last time the waterpump/timing belt was changed was like 90,000miles ago!

Will I be fine without changing the oil pump while doing the timing belt? Do people generally change the oil pump at all? I've never really heard of one failing on a properly maintained car. They're really solid, yes? I'm referring to bone-stock cars here.

Let me know. My major car servicing is happening tomorrow.

Life of the car if you're lucky. If they're taring it down you might as well replace both pumps as well.

generally speaking the oil pump will last the life of the vehicle.

I've only ever heard of them failing on race-only vehicles. Going on 20 years of working on Hondas, I've never seen one go. I wouldn't worry about it.

Should last the life of the car. Even in race-only apps, most guys will still run a OEM pump.

Thanks guys for the reassurance. I didn't think it needed changing either. Oil pumps are usually very stout pieces.

Cheers.
