Default 1990 honda civic wagon K24-awd build...

well the car has been finished for a little bit now and i did a small build thred on the civic wagon site so i guess i will do one here as well..

well i wanted to slow down with my projects so i said this would be my last big one. and i said i guess i will do a few things in this swap no one had wanted to do and said could not be done. and i just wanted to be different.

since i had not done a K swap i figured i would do that.

and since i love my wagons i wanted it to be in that. and well why not throw AWD in the mix make it all the more fun and then since i am a boost freak why not boost it like i do all my toys.

well it stated here with the only clean.. ish wagon i could find in this area it is a 1990 fwd auto is had min rear quater rust and the god awful after market sun roof that leaks.
picked her up for 500$

started to stock pile some goodies
05 honda element 5 speed and transfer case
rsx shifter box and cables.

had to pull out the old power plant.

and started to test fit some of the new goods.

picked up a K24a4 from a honda accord removed at the dealer for burning oil.

a few straps help to hold her in place to see what fits and whats need to be modded.

i also used a EF swap mount kit and used two of the mounts (trans side and motor side) to get it in there.

the rear mount bracket was a no go because of the transfer case so i have to fab up a rear mount and a front mount that i attached to the inovative traction bar i am runnin.

then i relized it was not going to fit how i wanted so i decided to trim a little bit off the hood and them re adjust my motor mount set up to bring the motor down about 1/2" lower so the hood will shut

got some more goodies from checkersports
ep3 pulley kit and fuel rail

after some trimmin i got the altnator installed and the belt on it is a very tight fit!!

now because the car was fwd to start with i had to connvert the rear over to the 4wd wagon stuff (trailing arms, subframe, diff, axles, and mounts)

not many pics of that because well it is nothing crazy to see.

i then moved on to the header issue because i knew that the 500$ ef swap header was not going to fit with the transfer case and drive shaft i decided to mod the stock one to fit to temp use till the boost comes.
what i had to do was take about 1'' out of each runner to bring it in close to the black and then trim a small bit off the rear sub frame and trim off the heat sheild breackets.

got my rsx midshaft and rsx base axles installed up front

mounted the rsx shifter box right to the floor for now. ( i have a K-tuned shifter box comeing that will mount under the car above the driver shaft )

sneek peek of the boost set up the fit pretty good. i will have to tuck the fuel filter befor i run it all

this is how tight the ALT is.

i also picked up a dna full size duel core rad from a CRX and i had my buddy move the coolent outlets to the other side for K series and it fits very tight but i love it not half *** half size thrown in there and i tried the VW rad trick and hated it.

also picked up a set of wheels for it

made my down pipe for the exuast

fresh paint on the valve cover

sittin on stock wheels

make a little intake for it

i picked up some tein spring from a crx 1.5" drop and i put some brand new monro shocks on it also for a Crx( crx stuff stock sits lower them wagon)
so with the crx set up on it the drop was more like 3''

slamed out on stock wheels

put the rotas on it with some snow tires

you can also see in the pics the hood shuts nice now

vr6 lip

finished up the drive shaft to the rear had to make most of it from two drive shafts (wagon, element) sent it off to get balanced up

also put some control arms on it because the bushing where shot

the style trac bar i went with

i went with a K-tell 2 1/2" exahust kit for a crx and modded it to fit for my app

i got my motor harness made up by a local guy that is a K series god and i got my K pro in it

i was haveing clutch set up issiues i was running the new style hydro to cable conversion but there is limited room in the bay and the set up just did not work the way i like it so i went and looked for a used set up of the old virsion of the hasport cable to hydro kit that runs the cable only

pic of the harness in you can see the old hydro to cable kit gettin removed.

on the road

i tried out a EF9 front bumper but did not like it so i sold it.

so not it has been on the road for a bit i decided to start to clean it up inside and out and give it the look i wanted. so i pick up a parts car very rotted 89 civic wagon RT4wd auto and i got all i needed to convert my doo doo brown interior to gray. so with the parts car i got a roof skin with not sun roof and a clean hood fenders and not rusty doors so down over the winter i can do all the body work an d have it repainted.

so the conversion started

now with the inside cleaned up i went with the out side i wanted to keep the RT4wd wheels but not stock so i had the rebarreled and widedned so then went out and went from 14" to 15" with a crome lip and then i painted them rattle can blue and some clear coat.
also always want the JDM honda shuttle (civic wagon ) bull bar set up so i found one local and drive 4 hours to get it.

then we come to current day pics.

and that is her.

like i said plans are soon to boost it reapint the bay and do all the body work and paint the body work and remove the sun roof. last week i moved the battery from the wheel well to the trunk and i just drive it. also since the motor burns oil i am going to re ring it or i am going to get a tsx long block befor i boost it.

if you want to see a crapy video look me up on your tube "goldhatch94" and stay tuned because i am woking on a real viedor shot by a pro and edited up nice comeing soon.

and also i pick up maybe my next project. since i have a J32a2 kicking around and i do have a 6 speed awd J sereis trans i might do another or i might do J swap RWd in it or i might just leave it stock humm who know.

thanks for lookin guys i hope you like it

this build is legit. curious what'd you do with the red one? those mudflaps would catch a pretty penny how much oil do you go through? and how'd you convince honda to sell you the defective motor? love how this thing turned out

the first red one i parts out i have alot of the parts i saved for my self and the second red one i still have and ii will be useing for a daily ot any bigger project and yes i know alot of the hard to find parts bring money.. the first red wagon up there i parted out it had a arm rest and speaker pods and mud flaps.

and my buddy is tech at a local honda dealer and he is a K series god around here lol so he got to get it from the dealer i am sure he has a in with the manager and it not that it burns alot of oil it just smokes like hell when i get on it so i drive it like a baby in traffic hahahah but i am going t rebuilt it or buy a TSX long block to swap in.

damn that's legit. didn't realize you bought two i thought the last pic was of the first red one. gotta love homie hook ups wonder if the block was a manufacturing defect or just bad maintenance? either way you still have a dope wagon. and comming up on those rare parts is a killer bonus!

its is not a defect in the block the accords have a prob with alot of the motors the rings stick and cause it to use oil it happens alot so rather then fix it the dealer replaces the motor.

and ya i have owned like 5 wagons lol i grab them when i find my local just bacause i know they are gettin hard to come by and i can find ahome for it or if it is to rotted i can part it out.
