Hello everyone i recently bought a 91 crx with 146K car drove great for the first 2 weeks. couple of days ago i got to work in the morning parked the car turned it off and tried to restart it it would not start just crank crank crank nothing. I oppened the hood checked everything over no lose conections battery was fine started right up ran fine shut it of started it up agian no problems. The next day i parked the car ran into the store got out started it up a min later it died agian checked everything over drove home and this has happened 6 times in the past 4 days. Last I was reading about a main relay and went and bought one from honda today changed that out and driving to work it died agian so im guessing that wasnt it. Next part im thinking is the dissy. Anyone have experence with this please help.

Im thinking it could be your fuel pump going out.i had the same problem and thats wat it was.

 

if you hearing the fuel prime when you turn on the key then the fuel pump is ok. Now, i had the same problem like you for the past two weeks. The car died on me while im driving on the highway but i can start it after 2 or 3 mins later. I found out it was my dizzy and i think the problem is either the ignition coil or the igniter module was fired but i didnt test it because i already have the extra so why not just replaced the whole unit right ? but yea after i changed it out . The car runs fine ever since.

 

fuel pump primes and there is a humming from it,and mine also starts agian 2-3 min later... now is the ignition coil and the igniter module both in the dizzy or are the in seperate places?

 

humming from where ? from the dizzy ? if so , thats it lolz. And yes they both inside the dizzy.

I got my dizzy from one of the local junk yard and costs me $25 lolz. The one i got was from the 91 civic sedan "EX". Not sure if it works on your crx or not cuz mine is SI D16A6.

Why don't u try junkyard or Craigslist ? No need to buy brand new .

For $200 at Advance Auto you can get a brand new dizzy. I have found that dizzies last about 250K miles and then start to fall apart. This is my second Honda that has over 650K miles on it and both had distributor problems at around the 250K and 500K mile mark.

You can get a re-built one from them for around $50 less. I like the new one as they have a lifetime warranty. They won't like me much as I drive my cars for over 600K miles.

 

Did u just say over 650K miles ? Wow man ... May I ask on what car again?

 

got a new dizzy today installed it everything seems to be alright...hopefully that was the problem
