Anyone have an idea? Its always been this way since I purchased the car back about a year.

Engine: D16Z6 - MT- 195k - Did the plugs a month ago, no change there.

Basically, after it has been sitting overnight, on my way to work it feels super "peppy". Then, for the rest of the day, it feels as though it takes quite a bit longer to get up to speed. Heck, even hitting about 5k rpms doesnt seem to even move any faster.

What are some easy things I can look into that could help figure this out?

Edit: I also have a new fuel filter I will be installing, if anyone thinks this may help?

 

Your post is entirely ambiguous and arbitrary. There's no way to troubleshoot a "feeling" or quantify "peppy".

If it's done this since you got it it probably is the normal operation of the car. It's a measly D-series after all.

 

I disagree. This is not a matter of it feeling "a little" slow. Its a big difference and there sure as hell is a cause for it.

Its ok if you don't know, I prefer to hear what some of the more mature members here have to say about it.

 

It's not that I don't know. It's that you have no solid numbers to back up your feeling.

You have never mentioned what you have done on your own like a full tuneup, whether the engine is still healthy, nothing.

If it is a big difference, please tell us how much of a difference. Because right now that could mean anything and be different from one person to the next.

So instead of trying to insult people, perhaps you might want to furnish as much information as you possibly can.

Have you done a full tuneup?
Have you checked the health of the engine (i.e. compression test)?

So far you've literally given us NOTHING to go on.

 

So, 18k posts and you have never read of this issue happening? Surprising....

It seems to be a pretty specific problem. A loss of power after an on/off/on cycle has to be attributed to only a few things, because it can be repeated every time. But if you're saying it can be a hundred different causes for a specific problem like this, I can go with that. My brain is just wired to think otherwise.

I guess ill just wait and see if someone else has experienced the issue and how they may have fixed it.

Nope.

Ill replace the fuel filter and see if that helps. All I was looking for were suggestions (ie. change this, look at that etc.).

Since there seem to be none (and I do realize that I did not give you anything to go on), Ill just try replacing what simple items I can. If that doesn't do it, i'll just live with it.

If anyone has had this issue (direct experience), please still post what you did to solve it.

Seriously? You cannot tell us if you've even done a full tuneup recently? If doing a tune up is not a suggestion then maybe I'm just not getting what you're asking us to provide you.

I've only had the car about 8 months.

What I've done:

Plugs, air filter and a can of Seafoam every other oil change.
