Icon6 04 automatic tuning...

Before everyone says the same thing I've heard everywhere "Get a manual..".. Please stop and read more first. I happen to be wheelchair bound, this won't change, and I'm stuck in the auto world. With an automatic for now, or until someone designs the hand controls I need to run a clutch. Now, I could use a hand from anyone that has a few ideas to add to my research. I already have a 95 si ecu, and waiting on a cross over cable, any ideas would be welcome from here for the tuning and build for adding my t-3 w/internal wastegate to this d17a1. Shaving the head, decking the block, already have a manifold, working on ignition system, ... I used to be a 5.0 mustang racer, now it's time for me to learn electronic tune.. How about a hand everyone. All help is appreciated.

You have a T3 turbo and a header? Do you mean a turbo manifold?

As for running a 95 Si ECU, its not going to work well. You'd be better off utilizing K-Pro, as it is readily available for the D17. To be honest, you'll want to send out the transmission to get some upgrades. Otherwise, you'll probably look at grenading it pretty early on.

Alternatively, if you have any way to get some custom fabrication done, you could try and pick up a K24A2 with an automatic mated to it and custom-fabricate the driver's side mounts and modify the frame rails to fit it.

Yes I have a turbo manifold.. And kpro doesn't support automatic tuning.. I ve been on the phone with them about 4 times now. And can't afford to do much more until I sell my k20a. The tranny I can pull a favor on.. But then I am still stuck with my d17a, so what else would you recommend to help make this work? I am making massive notes for my research before I jump into this project and pull my everyday driver off the street for a couple weeks to make this all happen. And thanks for the reply...

Well, to be honest, I don't know how you're going to make the 95 ECU work without having something to control the spark plugs in the car (the D17 doesn't have a distributor).

Maybe something like Megasquirt, or an AEM piggyback might work. But, if memory serves me right, people have used a dual-ECU setup utilizing the stock automatic ECU for the transmission, and then K-Pro for the engine management.

Any way you slice it, you're looking at doing a lot of custom work.

AEM 4 Channel Twin Fire Ignition Module 30-2821 should do the trick..unless you have another idea?
