I wasn't really looking actively for a replacement vehicle as my VX is still running great, but since an incredible deal came along I seized it. That said, the car does have some issues. It runs great, tracks straight, handles great, but needs exhaust work, and uses oil and coolant. It still gets great gas mileage, though, as the lean burn still works perfectly, the compression is still great, idle is right where it should be, etc. and so the fuel economy is still superb (50MPGs in warmer weather).
The body is not in great shape, but would take little to get it to pass inspection and overall has been holding up surprisingly well. The cabin fan stopped working after the car sat for two weeks this summer when I injured my foot and couldn't drive. Otherwise the car is always regularly driven (which is good for old cars) and has never sat. The wheel bearing probably needs to be replaced (given the noise it makes and research I did it's probably a bearing). I love this car despite its idiosyncracies (in some ways the car's characteristics are what make it endearing and enjoyable to drive).
The car is bone stock except for HID headlights, upgraded speakers and head unit (plays MP3 CDs, has AUX out for iPhone / iPod / MP3 player hookup) and still has the super-light-weight original VX wheels. It's a 5 speed manual.
