92 Civic VX hatch - interested in performance and appearance mods
I recently purchased a used honda civic vx. I realize that you can't do much to customize it, but does anyone know anything performance wise or appearance wise I can do to customize the car? I know the VX's are built for gas mileage but I don't mind losing a few mpg for better performance. Are there any exhausts i can put on it? Thanks guys. The engine is a D15Z1 VTEC-E. And the car is a hatchback

Man those are hard to find..... How much did you pay btw? I bought my EX just to get better mileage, when compared to a truck that's a significant difference, but a VX would be ridiculous mileage.

I only paid $2200 and it only had 108,000 miles on it in perfect running condition. I average around 37 or so mpg mostly city driving. I didn't know what a vx was when I bought it and I didn't even realize it was a vx until after I bought it.

Re: 92 Civic VX hatch - interested in performance and appearance mods
This is a great car if you can appreciate what it is. If you want a high MPG Civic you've found your car. There are ppl. that would jump at the chance to buy an unmolested VX in a heartbeat for that price.
If you want to modify this car for performance, sell it to someone on ecomodder.com, etc. and get something else.
If you start hacking this up you're only gonna lose in the end.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Not quite what I was expecting but I appreciate the advice. I honestly wanted a cheap car and a civic was it. I went in to expect a car I could customize and sure enough its the one civic you can't really customize lol. I put a cheap cold air intake on it but I still have all the stock parts for it. It has just under 109,000 miles on it. What price do you guys think I could sell it for?

Yeah honestly I like the sound of the intake and also it gets a few mpg better than the stock but definitely no considerable power gain.

Put a b series engine in it.
Sell this car to a greenie and get a CX/DX hatch then go to town.
The O2 sensors in this car alone are worth more than what someone will pay for it after you get done with your B swap hackjob.

I agree dont swap this car! If you want performance, some one will pay for this with rising gas prices, and pick you up another one that is more on the performance side.

I'd put it on ebay if you're wanting to flip it and start looking with more money....

Here's an example of what people are bidding on these cars, 39 bids and up to $4600 with a day left to go.....

I sold one on ebay once, I met them halfway...roughly 200 miles, you can also make them deal with the shipping end and require a 1000 dollar deposit upon the end of bidding. I tend to lean toward CL when I'm trying to get book value for a car or below, but with this car you'd get more exposure on Ebay for the type of car you have. I'd consider it a niche market given that you're aiming toward the eco-minded car shopper. But you could up it up on http://ecomodder.com/forum/sale.html as well.
With CL you're looking a regional buyers, with ebay you're spreading the exposure around a bit more.

el paso has vx like roaches in the dark. the ones i thought were rare were the SIs. there were only three counted in the entire city. super clean rides too. but i'd definetly trade my si for this vx. just cuz im tired of this honda tuning crap. huge money pit.
