Default 08 Civic SI electrical problems?

After work today i started my car and let it warm up for a good 10 minutes. when i went out to leave i noticed all my electronics were reset. i didnt think anything of it thinking my coworkers were playing a prank. but as i drove out my radio kept going out and coming back on. this had happened once before but it hasnt happened for a while.
as i got on the highway it was fine. and stayed fine until i hit traffic. then all my electronics blinked. then once my car died out for like 1 seconds and then jolt back on and my tires screeched cuz i had my foot on the gas pretty hard.
a little later down the road i turned my lights on and all my electronics including all the dash lights flashed on and off as if i was starting my car but the car didnt die or anytthing.
finally when i got home i shut off my car and as soon as i didnt i noticed all my electronics died. no lights worked. so i put my key back in the ignition and tried to start it and its completely dead. no click no nothing. i checked the battery cables and they are tight...
i have no idea where to start. i thought it might be the alternator but the car would at least turn over if it had gone. plus i have had similar problems before but they went away.
any ideas where to start?
-Dan

Check charging system. Alternator is a fine place to start. If you suspect elsewhere in the circuit, let me know what you need as far as ETM info.

Not if you completely drained the battery by running the car with no alternator output.

Charge the battery and start the car, then check the voltage with the engine running. If the alternator is charging properly, you should be getting 13.8-14.4V. If you're just getting battery voltage (12.0-13.0V), something is wrong with the alternator circuit or the alternator itself.
