Icon2 Choosing what amp fuse for battery-out power wire under hood

Hey I read through the sticky " Power Wire and Fuses / Holders ("what size do I need?")-Big three upgrade pics and details " and couldn't find out any information...

Choosing a fuse for my cabling, think I have 4 gauge connected to the battery now, and wondering what amp fuse to use.

Are amp fuses something of the nature where you want to pick one that is high enough to let enough power go through but low enough that it will not let enough power through to overload and cause issues?

or are fuses more like the kinda thing where the bigger/higher number is always generally better to have and just means how much can run through it and it still provide coverage?

just not sure if amps are the kinda thing i need to get a roughly specific number for, or going bigger can't hurt and it's about saving money to not go exorbitantly high?

I plan on running something like 2 mono 600w amps to two 12" subs and a 400w amp to my speakers.

Thanks in advance, and a link to something I can read and learn the answers on my own is welcomed greatly.

Also that sticky, I will not mock the author and assume they are foreign, as I had difficulty reading almost every setence written. If there is a way someone could edit it, and no problem I will volunteer myself to do it, so as to make it more readable for future use I think it would be a great idea. As it stands now, it could use some editing for something as front-facing as a sticky, if I may be so bold.

Thank you again.

2awg wiring from battery to distribution block
100amp fuse
2 amp distribution block with 50amp fuses for each amp...using 4awg wire

Make sure to use 100% OFC wire. Those cheap amp kits are CCA. It is NOT the same.

The sticky has everything needed. You fuse for the wire size. There is a chart in there to help determine what size power wire needed. There is no other simple way to put it. It tells you about fuse holder and styles. I just asked a member to read it and he understands it perfect he said. I will go back and update some new things.

What killer said, the fuse is for the power cable you use, not the amp connected to it.

One other thing, if your running 2 amps, run two power cables, using one cable and a splitter/fuse block adds a lot of unneccesary connections, and every connection is a point of resistance. 94
