2000 acura integra ls cluster and climate control dont light up
So after doing a diy amber climate control of just simply sharping the bulbs and installing everything back how it goes my cluster and climate control do not light up. I checked all the fuses and nothing is blown. my dome light still works. when i turn the car on, the cluster still lights up for the self checks, ie brake, abs, battery, etc. the little lights for the buttons on the climate control still light up. basically the lights that are ment to illuminate, so that you can see what your doing is what is not working. if anyone can provide me with any direction would be great. thanks in advance
Did you forget to plug in the "Dash Lights Brightness Controler", [sometimes mistakenly called a dimmer switch] pull the switch and check to make sure it is plugged in properly.
If it is plugged in, unplug it and test the red/black lead for power, [when park/head lights are on] if good, use a jumper to connect the red and black lead in the plug together and see if the lights work.
Power for the dash lights is from the park/head light switch, [red/black leads] ground for the dash lights is from/through the DLBC if the switch is bad or unplugged the lights will not work.
What do you mean, "of just simply sharping the bulbs" did you mean swapping the bulbs?94

well i never unplugged the dimmer switch but i did check it. my multimeter pop the fuse so i cant check for power right now. and i meant i sharpied the bubls
all i did was take out the climate control completely, sharpie the bulbs and put everything back. when i turned my park/headlight switched nothing happened.

Did you check for power on the red/black?
Did you jump, [bypass] the DLBC plug?
Asking for help and being told what to try and not doing so, and then bumping and telling us you still need help, is not cutting it.
Troubleshooting a problem is a process of elimination, the first thing you need to know is if there is power to the circuit, that is done by testing the circuit, in your case it is testing for power on the red/black illumination, [dash lights] lead, if good, you need to test for ground to the circuit, the easiest way to do that is to bypass the DLBC, by jumping from the black ground lead to the dash light circuit ground, [red], that can all be done at the DLBC switch, it also tests the switch.
Until we know that you have power, have a ground, the DLBC is good, there is no point in making any other suggestions, 94

sorry for the delay, finally got a fuse for my voltmeter. so i got a 10V reference at the connector of the dimmer. I moved the lead to see if i would get a change in voltage when i would spin the dial and nothing. it stayed at 10V. when i switched the voltmeter to check for ground (beeping noise) for the actual switch i did not get a beep. So is simply getting another switch the solution? pop in new switch, and bingo, lights are on?
One more time, unplug the switch, test for power on the red/black lead, if there is any power, use a jumper to connect the red lead and the black lead in the plug together, if the lights work, replace the DLBC, if not you have another problem. 94
