Default LS B18 striped bolt hole

What's up guys and gals. What i got is a 91 b18 i got it for cheap and i think i found out why. I was going to drain the coolant so i took the drain plug out (the one behind the exhaust). The plug came out fine alil snug but nothing out of the ordinary. Well when i started it back into the block it started fine threaded almost all the way to the block then it got alil snug then the threads just let go. So what i'm getting at is anyone else run into this and what suggestions do ya have besides just retaping the threades and putting a bolt in it. Thanks for any info

You might be able to get by with completely cleaning out the hole and then making sure it is completely dry and then putting some rtv on the bolt threads and threading it in until you know the threads are all on, then let it completely cure for a day. It's going to depend on how bad the threads are. You were supposed to rtv those threads to begin with.
