Default ~My First Build Thread~ 1993 DB2 GSR! -pics!

**ANY HELP, QUESTIONS, and COMMENTS will be appreciated as I am in the learning process.

So lets get started!

History

So last Friday I came across what I believe was a good deal on a 93 gsr. I picked it up for only 1,500 dollars! but...its been in the hands of someone who thought it was a good idea to put a body kit on it and paint the interior panels...which i will be converting back to stock during this process. The plus side is that there is very minimal rust. The guy i bought it off of did not know anything about the car, its history, or the extent to its problems that will be likely to encounter during this build. I ask him if it would be able to get me home on my 2 hour drive and he said yes, i took his word for it and brought the car home. The car has unknown mileage on title and the cluster was switched out but says 144k. The clutch and trans works fine from what i can tell by driving it home. Engine also ran fine, besides for the cold idle problem. alignment was good also. Its has a few aftermarket bolt on's, but the engine seems to be original (stamped b17a1). Will be posting pictures of everything over the next couple of days. It also came with a hornet alarm system.

Initial Problems I've encountered:

-Needs a new battery.
-surging idle when it is cold (alternating from 1k to 2k fast, also bounces a tiny bit after it gets warm around 1k rpm).
-loud squeaking from the front drivers side. It gets louder and faster as you increase speed. Wheel bearing???
-shifter is as loose as a goose.
-Inspecting possible oil leak around the left side by the head, and by the oil pan. unsure if its actually leaking as of now.
-heater blower motor only works a little on full blast and the temp cannot be adjusted.
-foreign noise comes from the left side of the engine, source is currently unknown, only can hear it sometimes. could be just a rattle though, i will be posting a video of the noise eventually to see if you can hear it.
-weird v-tec controller thing in the dash. will be posting pictures of it soon to see if anyone knows anything about it.
-came without a intake or air filter(stolen) so will be putting one on.
-Rusty trunk
-needs stock bumpers
-replace taillights with stock ones
-needs new gauge cluster (current one the wiring is messed up and half the gauges don't work.

This is all the information i was given/noticed about the car. The next couple days I will be posting pictures of everything, and hopefully will have some time to have a good look at the car.

Let me know what you guys think!

A long road ahead of you, but it's worth it in the end. Good luck and looking forward to updated pictures.

Finally got some progress going... picked up stock 93 integra bumpers(no cracks) the other day along with a new hatch (no rust dents or bondo) for a good price. Hoping to find some time to put them on later this week and upload pictures. Also what gauge clusters will fit? will the next gen gsr cluster work or the type r? I dont think i will be able to find one from my year. the loud squeaking for the drives side wheel only happens for about the first 10 minutes of driving the car then slowly goes away, would that be a wheel bearing? or maybe just the brakes rubbing? any knowledge would be greatly apperciated!

Nice to see someone rescue a DA GS-R. So few of those around these days. You should get a tax credit or something LOL
