We just got our daughter a 2000 Coupe EX and while I was pulling out an old interior neon hack-job, I noticed this connector unplugged under the steering column and behind the fuse box. It only fits in the circled spot. Any ideas? You can see the scotchlock connector where they had tied in to some power wire.

Yellow generally denotes SRS stuff. Do you see any adverse affects when you plug it in? Does the car have aftermarket seats or anything?

Everything is bone stock and we've only had the car in the garage for a few days. The only thing I know right now is that the SRS light has been on for awhile, from talking with the previous owner. But I've since pulled the alternator (was charging at 17+ volts!) so I haven't had time to really mess with it yet.

Yeah, probably SRS. DO NOT plug that in until you disconnect the battery AND wait at least 3 minutes.

Excellent point, I neglected to mention that.

OP, should have mentioned SRS light was on in your post. Definitely related items then. The SRS light should be able to be scanned to pull the error. I'm going to wager it could be a few things. Hopefully the car wasn't in an accident and half-assed repaired. You have to replace the SRS computer if it was in an accident to truly clear the SRS light which was ~$400 for my ex's '07 Accord.

From reading it seems like the SRS light on is an issue for the 6th gen cars, and that there is a reset procedure out there. I did have it scanned while it was at the body shop and I'm still waiting on my guy to relay the SRS code to me. I honestly don't really care if the light is on as long as the airbags are still functional. I'll try to get the code today. Anyone have a schematic that may trace back to that connector to be sure?

Generally if the light is on the system is disabled....that has always been my understanding of the system. Especially if the computer was in an accident and not replaced. It's only good for one event then it must be replaced.

There is a reset procedure, an example where that works is when I installed an aftermarket (non-airbag/SRS) steering wheel. When I did that I drove around for awhile before implementing the fix (resistor trick in the FAQ I wrote) so I had to do the reset procedure to clear it.

If you just randomly reset it without fixing the issue it will come right back.

Well, well rescanned it and pulled up a 15-3 code. I tracked it down to the service bulletin A06-009 and we're 2 years out of warranty to replace the OPDS sensor in the passenger seat. Does anyone know how much one of these costs and are the front airbags still operational at least with this light on?

I Googled in an attempt to find otherwise, but it looks like my original statement/understanding was correct.

If the SRS light is on for whatever reason (fault, deployed, etc) then the SRS system is disabled until repaired.

If it's just the sensor on the passenger seat I can't imagine it costing too much. You might be able to call American Honda and explain the situation and concern over your daughter and see if they'll grant you the 'good will' coverage. Worth a shot.

I found it for about 135 and it kind of looks like a pain in the *** to take that seat apart to replace it. I did buy a Haynes manual but can't seem to find the service manual online like I can for some other year Accords and Civics. Any idea where I can get one? I'll give them a call tomorrow and plead my case. It's just aggravating (but not surprising) that the previous owners wouldn't have it checked out.
