did i get 87 octane fuel from an ultra94 pump?
A few days ago i was running on fumes so i decided it would be a good time to switch back to 94 octane, i also topped up my oil. on my way to my buddies later that day my car didnt felt slightly less powerful than normal. i didnt think anything of it, i did jokingly mention to my buddy something about the 94 being bad though.
However over the last couple days it never seemed to get back to its normal feel. on top of that i noticed a couple times when hitting vtec in 2nd gear it sputtered at about 6000rpm and again at 6500rpm. over the next couple days I started to get worried as issue persisted and I started investigating potential causes.
i was planning a trip to the wrecker on friday but luckily i needed gas after work today. so with my only real option being an esso at this time of night i pumped in 20$ 91 and as soon as i got out of town i noticed my car felt more like normal. when i hit a stop light i decided to test the high rpms out and it felt insane compared to the **** i was dealing with before.
do these sound like symptoms of low octane fuel though? or just coincidence
