Is this part associated at all with oil? I was driving and my oil drained. The mechanic said it had something to do with this part so he put sealant on it. Should i replace the whole solenoid or simply the gasket for it? Also its a 95 civic ex

 

vtec runs off oil pressure. so yes, the vtec solenoid requires oil running to it. usually the gasket just goes bad.
