Hey all,

New to the forum, and new to car maintenance in general. My maintenance required light would start to flash once the car was started, but would end after 6 blinks or so. It now blinks once, then stays on. Any thoughts?

Suggest that you know what service it is asking you to do as well. Not just oil change but what about the trans fluid (auto more often than manual), timing belt, ect.....so what service code is it giving?

 

Mine also blinks a few times when i first start the car then goes away.
I think that part is normal.

 

I have a friend named "Manuel" who was able to explain to me what the light was for and how to reset it...

 

a few blinks then goes away is just a friendly warning saying to go buy supplies or make an appointment, basically

when it stays on, it's time to do the service



to reset the light, hold down the trip button, insert key and turn to "run"


i dont know how to actually tell what the car wants you to do it

 

^ 7500 miles is the recommended service (oil change) interval... so the light comes on and stays on every 7500 miles. Blinking at startup, then going out, means that you are approaching 7500.

It's all in the owner's manual.
