I am new to this web site and just recently picked up a 94 honda prelude s. which has a 2.2 f22a1 sohc. however it does not idle at a consistant rpm. the rpms flucuate anywher from 2000-500 rpms and im not sure what would cause the motor to surge in such a way. i have replaced plugs and tps sensor. also has terrible throttle response and acceleration like no power. is running on all 4 cylinders. i was just curious if anyone else has had this problem and what are a few possible soultions.

 

try to check the coolant level first and if it is low on coolant youll have a surging idle. If coolant is ok then the IACV on the throttle body is dirty or faulty

 

i have cleaned the throttle body and still same thing. the coolant is where it should be. but i will check the iacv valve. thanks for the ideas
