Default B series engine guru's, click here.

Well, right now I have an OBD0 b16A block with stock PR3 pistons. Low miles. The head is an ITR head with some aftermarket port and polishing with ported intake manifold ports, dual valve springs and tit. retainers. Using a CTR intake cam and a B17 GSR Exhaust cam. Usdm ITR intake manifold thats been port matched to the head and bored @ the throttlebody. Motor runs great. Makes power all the way to 9k. I want a little bit more though, so im thinking about buying a GSR longblock soon and possibly swapping my ITR head over to the GSR block.

I know the GSR head has smaller combusion chambers which yelids higher compression, but the ITR head flows better. Being that im using the CTR intake cam, which setup do you guys think is best? I could put my cams in the GSR motor, or swap the ITR head onto the GSR block? Also, car is obd1 using a chipped p28

Swap the head and sell the B16 block with a gsr head. jumping from 1.6 to a 1.8 should be your primary reason for picking up a GSR block.

if your just picking up a short block forget what i said about selling the B16 block w/GSR head.

If is a better idea to put the ITR head on the GSR block, then i'll do that and put the GSR head on the b16 block and put it in my daily.

Sounds like your picking up another swap...make sure to swap the trans too! A B16 trans will be better than the gsr trans.

Gsr BLOCK does not have smaller combustion chambers. Your facts are mixed up. It's the gsr HEAD with its quench pads that increase compression.

the OP said that GSR head had smaller Comb. Chamber. Since the Quench pad is smaller, no argument there...the chamber would be smaller as well wen compared to an itr/b16 head. How are his facts mixed up?

Yea, I knew it was the head that effected the CR but I accidently put the block in the original post.

Ive kinda decided to keep the 1.6 block because I have like 3 extra b16 blocks and if anything ever happen, it would be an easy fix.
