Used the blinking light on the ECU to actually find a problem.
so the motor swap was running very nice in the 90, although the c.e.l was on. I fixed the o2 sensor so I knew it wasn't that.
Looked at the ecu and saw that it blinked 6 times so I looked up the code. It was the ect switch. Checked the connection and the terminal had corroded right off of the plug. never noticed it. Replaced the connector and plugged it in.
cel off, idle goes up to 1200 at cold start and comes right down to 750 every time now. AWESOME. thats good thinking honda.
just wondering about all the other people that have ever used this diagnostic approach?
later.
