Judging by the valve cover it's a first gen, also the intake mani has PGM-FI which can also symbolize first gen. Your best bet is to look at the block number stamped under "B16A" and if the number starts with a 1 its a first gen, but if it starts with a 5 its a second gen. From what i'm told.

Google search results: (the number under the B16A = 1xxxxxx,5xxxxxx)

Heres a good reason why AF is one of the best sites on the net!

I believe we could well be the first site to have found out the only reliable way to tell all the different B16a engines apart.
(well I did, I snuck a look at the JDM parts manual at my local honda service center)

Most people know there are two first generation B16a engines, both with 160hp.
The 1 million series and the 5 million series. Meaning the engine number starts with either a 1 or a 5

The 1 million series were available in the Integra XSi and RSi from 1990 to 1991. And I can confirm there was an Auto option.
The 1.2 million series was available in the 92 XSi and RSi, and was also available with an Auto.

The 5 million series was in the Civic and CRX SiR, and no Auto was available. However when the 5gen Civic was released the hp was upped to 170hp, but the engine numbers continued on starting with a 5, and other than some visual differences it can be hard to tell if you have a 160 or 170hp engine.

Well here are the numbers after the 5-
50 1990 160hp }
52 1991 160hp }4g Civic/CRX SiR
and
54 1992- 170hp 5th and 6th gen SiR, SiRII and CRX delsol SiR.

Take a look in the FAQ,there may be more...
