Default Bad performance with map sensor

I have a honda civic EG with a b20b motor, CEL came on and showed code 3 map sensor. I replaced map sensor....the cel went away but the cars performance is really bad...the idle is very low with the map sensor connected and the car dies after revving it up but the performance is basically the same without it, once I disconnect the map sensor there are no issues, the car can rev up and drive normally but my understanding was that the map sensor was supposed to give the car more power and better performance this is just through some research that I have done. I dont know much but learn something new each day with my research. There is a piece of cloth in the throttlebody lower port, I've noticed that once I remove this cloth the cars idle is really low and if I try and revv it, it kinda has a miss...the car is normal with the cloth and without the map sensor connected. pls give me advice on this.

Did you reset the ECU after replacing the map sensor?

Post a picture of the cloth and where it is inserted.

Check for swapped sensor connectors by verifying that wire colors in connectors match to the sensor.

Permanently remove the cloth. Does the blocked port lead to an FITV or IACV or does the cloth hold the throttle plate partially open?

Sorry for my late response, I have limited access to the internet...I checked the connectors...it looks like the map sensor and tps are both correct with there wire colours. I think the block port leads to the FITV if I am correct I have done some research. When I remove the cloth... the map sensor connected with no cel the car has a misfire. The throttle plate is fully closed.

remove the cloth that's a disaster waiting to happen. remove your FITV and adjust the valve all the way closed.

I think its aftermarket not sure, its 2nd hand, they have tested the sensor before it was taken off from a car
