ok well i got broad sided in the rear passenger side by some old couple and my most basic of insurance wont pay me a cent so i need to kno if i should bother trying to repair it or not... the rear passenger wheel was torn off but the frame stayed intact its not bent or anything the trailing arm was broke in two peices and the rear qaurter panel was demolished the rest of the car is fine but the rear passenger seems pretty toasted , think its worth fixing ? should i scrap it part it out and buy a new one or what ??
so im guessing you were the one that caused the accident otherwise there insurance would have to cover it. unless canada has some weirdo backwards insurance policies.

lol they hit me and it was put down as weather conditions but i didnt have collision so they arnt paying me and i dont have to pay them idk man ive never been in an accident before , do have anything to say about the car or are u just here to discuss my insurance ??????
Working pictures might be a big help to determine condition of your Civic. What exactly doe road conditions mean, even if you only have pl/pd if someone else crashed into you, then they would be at fault, and hence their insurance company would have to pay a settlement to you for their policy holders negligence. Do both parties involved have the same insurance company?
Man, you guys are hard-headed. It's a no-fault accident. It's like 2 opposing penalties in football, they offset each other. In this case they each take care of their own vehicle.

Pics dont work? Yes replacement of a qtr panel is frame damage, any damage to a qtr panel more then 4-6in inwards frame damage thru NAAA guide lines and dmv standards. So ur car with labor parts and paint is around 4-7k so the insurance called ur car a lost.

Read that.
If the cost of repair exceeds the value of the car, it's totaled. (as far as insurance is concerned.)
depending on where you're from, the laws can differ on what deems your vehicle as a total loss. in California, they even take mileage and how many years the car has been on the road and use that to decide if the vehicle is a total loss. so far from reading what you've written, it sounds like you might be better off parting the car out because it might cost too much to fix it all back up to how it was prior to the accident... but post some pics up there and lets see where it stands.

I can't fathom an insurance company shelling out $7,000 to repair a car which costs $5,000 to replace entirely. (generally speaking)

Your **** is covered if they have insurance, this has nothing to do with your insurance. Are you hurt? If you claimed you are, expect some money. IMO you should consult a lawyer, and don't take the first offer the insurance company gives you if your car is totalled out, check your KBB and stay firm with that price, unless your car obviously looks like **** to begin with.
If you already talked with your insurance company and they said they weren't covering repairs. They can't say if its totaled or not. The assessment of totaling comes from the insurance company evaluation of repairs. Parting out would be my answer.
