if you just want more power, just throw a 50 shot on it. If installed correctly theres nothing to worry about and youll have power on demand.

Assuming your username has something to do with what car you own(that's a very important piece of info) any B/H/F is pretty solid for DD duty. I personally would avoid the B16. You won't get the extra power you are looking for, even though it says 40hp more than your D, the lack of torque will disappoint you. With your experience level, I would also avoid the H/F swap. I am currently doing one in a crx and its a big job. I am doing it the hard way though and making my own mounts.

I'd suggest picking up a non vtec b18 swap and toss that in, maybe add a vtec head later. If you happen to find a vtec swap, I'm not saying stay away, it's just cheaper and easier to swap non vtec.

B18 and do I/H/E you'll be happy for a while and have the option of LS-VTEC. Once you go 1.8L+ you don't go back.

I just bought a 99 gsr integra for my DD. Love it so far, are you looking for something cheap, or have money to spend? Cheap what about like an LS with a b16 head so you get the vtec? Just a suggestion good luck on finding what you need.

Exactly like he said.. what does your wallet say!?.. Adjust your goals to your wallet .. I'd say if you have a D16, a b16 with some bolt ons would def be something priced resonable and add some power.. an LS swap would also add some hp/trq to your car, can be found cheap.. i was just selling one for $400.. and could possibly down the road let you throw in a turbo if you ever decide to go that route..

hey guys thanks for all the advice well my wallet says about 2500 so enough for a b18b im guessing just want more power and torque for DD as my D15 sucks at the moment 170k :/
then i will be doing the I/H/E then vtec head

If your going to pull the head and do a vtec conversion.. might as well change the pistons to a higher comp and have the rods resized for ARP hardware.

Then it will be a nice LSV that puts down some power.

I would buy the engine and do all the work before swapping it in. Just throw it on a stand and start doin work..Get your vtec head, conversion kit, pistons, ARP bolts, and all the gaskets youll need. This way, you can clean the engine, paint it, make everything look nice. Planning ahead will save you time and $$ in the long run.

Thats what im doing.

If your going b18...why not consider a b20? Great dd motor with more tq. Around same price.

also by your name and avatar pic looks like you have an EG, I'm assuming this is where the swap is going into.. Also are you going to be doing all the work yourself, or is someone else going to the the labor? If your budget is around $2500 total parts+ Labor I will honestly tell you your best bet will probably be to find a good full gsr swap! I have seen those longblock, tranny, ecu, axles etc for under $2500.. LSV are fun but can be a pain to do them right for $2500. I know b/c I've been putting one together the past year.. Things you might not consider when doing an LSV are things like which pieces are compatible.. timing covers, power steering brackets, bolts etc.. Once you start getting away from a normal OEM you start running into compatibility issues..for your goals (fun DD no all out motor or boost) and your budget (2500) i would stick to a simpler swap and add bolt-ons when you can..

yeah man going on a EG.
as for labor i really dont have time to do it since im working a lot i can probably just
take out old engine i wouldn't kno if that makes a difference in price for swap labor.i will look into a GSR motor and see were i can find one cheap. and then just bolt-ons dont plan on boosting.

B18 has the bigger cylinders, more horse hp and tq and almost the same weight. Sohc in my mind is a better idea if your turboing and looking for about 40 less lbs
