P72 Chip Question.. NEED HELP
I purchased a swapped ek hatch recently.. and since have been finding a few surprises that the previous owner either failed to mention or simply lied about.. I've come to my final surprise and want to know what this ecu I have really is.. I know the ecu is a p72 from a 95 gsr.. I'm assuming its obd-1..
B18c1
Stock bottom end
Built head, itr cams, supposedly
Victor x, aftermarket tb
Full race twin scroll top mount
Twin tial mv-r's
Precision 6262
3" turbo back
Precision 1000 injectors
Walbro 400
-8 feed
-6 return
S80 trans
Blah blah blah, the rest is useless info..
My Question: Do I simply have a mugen chipped from eBay ecu or Neptune.. based on what I've read so far.. I'd say this is eBay crap.. can u re write those chips with Neptune software if u are a Neptune dealer?
Previous owner told me it was tuned by MATT SHUE with Neptune.. I thought that was great.. he claimed 352hp on 11psi...
Car seems to run great, smokes in boost, my guess is stock bottom end, rings are shot..
Gauge reads roughly 11psi at full boost..
Curiosity got the best of me today so I popped open the ecu and this I what I see, what appears to be a got damn eBay mugen chipped pile of horse ****.. btw, both o2 sensors were "disabled thru Neptune"... Facepalm... Also vtec pressure switch is disabled..

That's more than likely not a NepTune chip. I just can't imagine the dealer wouldn't remove that sticker on top or use a different chip. Until you remove the label we won't know if it's reprogrammable. Once you do simply type the chip number into google and it will give you the specs. If it is reprogrammable it is "possible" that it was reprogrammed and they never removed the sticker. Obviously the "Mugen" program would never run your setup, so something else is on the chip.

Thank you for the help, I will check that out today.. it almost seemed like the label was printed directly on the chip and not like a sticker.. I will check it out and update the thread..

The chip model doesn't dictate if the tune is legit or not. I've programmed some basemaps that were incredibly close to the final tuned values, especially on stock engines with common mods. If a tuner doesn't remove someone else's sticker, there's a good chance you just got lucky. But you're going to snap those rods on 11psi anyway.

Btw, I beat the **** outta that car on a daily basis, going on 4 months now, previous owner for how ever long before me.. not a missed beat, not a drop in performance.. least of my worries is a snapped rod.. like I said, I literally beat the **** out of it on a daily basis and have had it up to 145-150 3 times.. she still runs great.. if it breaks, **** it.. I've got a aebs sleeved 85mm b18c5 bottom end in the machine shop right now being assembled..
