d16 tranny question

Default d16 tranny question

i need to know if i cane use the final drive from the d17 tranny and use it on me d16 tranny(s40) reason i ask is because its a 4.411 fd compaired to the s40 4.250 fd. thanks for any help.

Why wouldnt you want an ex tranny from the d16y8? I think the fd is a bit higher, and the gears are overall shorter. Plus the steel shift forks is awesome. Just my. 02 cents

The hatch and coupe/sedan both have different fd's on the y8. Y7 have the lowest fd, and long *** gears :/

i have a 2000 civic ex which comes with a s40 trans which is a 4.250 a 4.411 final drive from the 2002 civic ex would make the car rev much faster. i found that syncrotech has a 4.5 final drive which i will pick up soon after christmas with my 11lb flywheel it will make my d16 muchhh faster

You might wanna get your info correct before spewing wrong info.

Y8's all have the same gearing and FD's

Y7's came with two different FD's, 3.722 for the CX/DX HB and 4.058 for the DX/LX coupe and sedan.
