2008 EX Left Front Ticking Engine Off
2008 Civic Ex with ~39k miles.
In the last week or so, there has been a ticking/buzzing sound emanating from the lower left corner.
Seems loudest when crouched down by the wheel. This is not noticeable from the right side.
This is audible with the engine OFF and is not the ticking of an exhaust heat shield cooling down.
The car can be left out in the cold for several hours and this will still be heard.
The noise is regular and seems to occur at a frequency of 1~1.5Hz.
It sounds similar to a single fuel injector, but much slower. There have been no CEL's displayed.
I've searched, but all results have been in relation to the engine running at the time of noise.
Any one come across this before?
-thanks

By the left side you mean drivers side? So engine off ticking, is your key ON (ll) or off (lock) when this is happening? Wow several hours go by and this can still be heard. Interesting. Can you record this sound @ the very location you can hear it @? Service history?
I should state that the car is completely stock and has had all oil changes done at the dealer.
It has had the scheduled 30 or 36k service and there were no problems found at that time.
As requested, i recorded the noise and converted to mp3. This was taken from a point about 6 inches from the left front wheel and caliper.
Thanks for any insight.
(Thank you) Is this after the vehicle is driven, or just from truning the motor on then off? In other words, does the car have to be driven for the noise to come about after key off?
Updated ?'s;
Does your motor overheat? Coolant overflow bottle examiniation? (you would probably know..)
Have you poped your hood and inspected in that general area for noise?
m/t or a/t?
a/c performance? condesor / accum. area damage?
It almost sounds like escaping air, or some type of component stuck on modulating(not likey relay or solenoid (a/t); noise too loud), or boiling fluid to a heated surface(but seems too fast). Its difficult to diag quite honestly without seeing the car.
