Getting rid of tweeters, do I still need crossovers?
Hey guys, tried posting this at TI forums with no luck. Maybe someone here can help me out!
I recently got a '98 2dr LS to replace my daily. There were no speakers in the rear, and only the tweeter on the driver's door and the speaker on the passenger's door worked.
I bought a pair of new speakers for the front, the passenger door did not have a tweeter (previous owner did black interior swap) but it did have a crossover in there with a wire coming out for a non-existent tweeter. The problem is I think the crossover on the driver's side is bad, as it only puts audio out to the tweeter wire and not the main speaker wire.
Since I won't be using the separate tweeter on the driver's side, can I simply cut the wires and take out the crossover completely? Or is there any other reason I would need it? I noticed the wiring coming from the car to the crossover is of a much much thinner gauge than the wires going from the crossover to the speaker & tweeter, will this be a problem should I cut the crossover out and have the thin gauged wire going directly to the speakers?

To replace them I bought Sosche 6.5" 3-way speakers (model HD6503), they're cheap I wasn't worried about awesome sound quality just something decent to get me by on the long commutes.
OIC, Aftermarket Boston Acoustics...

Then the X overs are also aftermarket, you will need to remove them, and just connect the stock speaker leads to the new speakers. 94
