Viper 791 Learn Routine Not Saving
I have a viper 791 XV alarm (old yes I know) and I cannot seem to change the setting for the Channel 4 Aux output. As of now, it will only stay activated for as long as I hold AUX and Unlock button . I want to change it to a 2 chirp-setting where it will stay on until I restart the vehicle.
So I hold the Valet button to enter the 2nd menu of the learn routine,
then I push the Valet button 10 times, then push and hold, it chirps 10 times.
But then the manual says to hold the valet button and press the Unlock button to change the setting. However nothing happens. I cannot seem to make any changes.
Someone told me that the dealer may have locked the learn routine to BitWriter only, but he also said that it would give one long chirp if that were the case. It's not giving my a long chirp so why can't I change the setting?
-Thanks

Wow so there were two things wrong here:
1. I see now that I have to CONTINUE holding after all those chirps, then press the buttons on my remote.
2. Like you said, it's option 12 not 10. This is odd, because my 791XV manual definitely says option 10. I found a copy of the 771XV manual, which says option 12. Is that the manual you're looking at?
All in all, I got it working, but I messed up option 10 and 9 in the process. Hopefully I can set them back to the 1 chirp and be fine. Maybe I should use the 771XV manual from now on...
Thanks Aau!

it may have been a misprint, or revised i downloaded the manual from online so it's most likely a newer manual(got the same alarm). go and do a search for the install manual online
