Default why is my type r miss firing?

Hello all of you type r enthusiasts, ive got a question. a while back i bent most of the valves on my 97 type r. i had them replaced and now the engine is miss firing at around 7100 rpm. im really not sure what the problem is. ive taken it to a couple of shops and they havent said much. one guy adjusted the timing and the ignition and replaced the plugs, that didnt help. any of you out there with any thoughts, or someone who has had this problem, please give me some guidance. thanks alot.

mine did that a while back...
4 huge cracks in the distributor cap and a torched contact.
I'm sure your shop checked that though.

Have you done a leak down? Which valves did you bend?

Bad distributor coils. Happened on mine. The car just wouldn't pull past 7k. I had a friends freaking 1.8T Passat that runs a 14.6 put bus lengths on me. I'd hold him off till 7k then after that he would put 3 cars on me before the next gear.

ok, thanks, i will have the shop check that out, i was thinking thats what it was, i talk to another guy on here that said he bent some valves in his b16, and his was miss firing and he replaced his dizzy, i thought it might have just been coincidence, but i guess not.

are you getting an "engine" light or are you just assuming it is a misfire ?

Misfire can be caused by a number of falty things such as:
-distributor coil
-distributor cap
-igntion wires
-spark plugs
-injectors
-fuel pressure regulator
-bad gasoline
-low compression

For misfire at high rpm the Helm manual suggest to check the following systems in this order:
-Fuel pressure
-VETC system
-Distributor / ignition wires
-ICM (sorry didn't have time to check what that system is)
-Valve clearance

Also I am not sure that bending valves would have anything to do with a falty distributor. Probably a coincidence if this is the problem.
Good luck

Has the ECU been messed with? maybe someone swapped it out for a civic ex ecu.
