Default 716whp 10 second Se-r Build Video

Just wanted to share this vid I made of the SE-R. Plan on moving the power up to 900+ and trying to get deep into the 9's. Some changes coming to move the powerband down a bit with a 6768 open t4 .81, new forward facing manifold and so on.

thread related it is great to see someone pushing a FWD SR20 powerplant now....we all know the power potential is there, really surprised there aren't more FWD SR20 Powered drag cars out running.

There will be more coming out over the next year im sure. The car was on a Borg Warner S400SX billet 67mm w/ 1.10 turbine housing. It was just a little too laggy for my taste.

If your aware of the fwd sr's they were plagued by very weak transmissions. Well those days are now over. Im running an 04 Se-r Spec V 6 speed gearbox mated to the JDM P12 bellhousing. The SR20VE 20V came with the same gearbox as the spec but without HLSD. But the HLSD swaps right over into the P12 bellhousing along with the gears. The p12 gears are short while the 04 spec gears are longer. My gearing is actually perfect and wouldnt change a thing about it.

Just need to keep the revs down. Tried to up the limiter to 10,200 from the 9700 I was revving to to extend the powerband a bit and the factory oil pump didnt like that. I was also running a stock VE pulley. Didnt shatter the pump gear but it pitted the teeth badly and warped the gear causing some damage on the inside of the housing. Significant drop in oil pressure spun a bearing.

Motor is getting a set of Pauter X-beams to replace the Custom Crower rods, same pistons, extra clearance on the bearings this time to compensate for the thick oil.

I dont need to rev high so Ill be going with a 6768 t4 .81 precision billet, that should move the powerband down at least a good 1000 rpm or so and still make close to peak at 9500-9700. With this trans on a 24.5" slick 9700 in 4th will take me to about 165mph. So absolutely perfect where I want to be. Might go with a 26X10 on a 10" wheel this time around just to give me my best shot at reaching the goal.

The car weighs about 2100 lbs. It was corner balanced and aligned and was able to pull a 1.58 60ft out of it but thinking of putting some weight bars up front to help out a bit. Maybe 100-150 lbs or so

Learned a lot from you big drag guys on here and again im sure youll be seeing some more out. Lots of big builds in the works. Including a 12.5:1 2.2L build on a 6768 as well and 6 speed and several others

Thanks, as it sits right now its the fastest fwd SR in the country ever. Trap speed wise. Once I break 9.80 or under it will be both quickest and fastest fwd SR out there.

Im hoping with around 900whp in 3rd and 4th gear and a good short track putting as much as I can down that the car will go low to mid 9's at 160+. Thats the goal. We will see what happens. Oh and an ATI balancer is going on the motor this time around as well. Not taking any chances.

This trans should hold just fine. These gears are massive compared to the old b13/b14/b15 5 speed transmissions.

These gears are the same gears that are in the 6 speed evo mr. While the evo guys tend to break 4th gear around 500awhp, you have to take into account that the evo weighs over 3k lbs and alot of times they run on street tires and with awd it makes it that much more harsh on the gears. Either way I think they will be fine. If a gear does finally give, John Shepard makes a 3-5 billet gearset that makes the stock already pretty beefy gears look puny.

so there are options out there if the need come. I run Valvoline Durablend 85w140 in the trans. Same oil i used in the old b13 trans and helped the trans last 9 months and 4 times the mileage of the 3 previous stacks combined using other oils. Not to mention more power.

Ill hope for the best. But as it sits right now, the trans is the least of my worries. The stock axles are already retarded big so dont think they will be breaking any time soon either.

These are the vids I have. Two are on my facebook so dont know if you can see them or not, you might have to be friends with me in order to see them. Trying to get them all up on youtube.

Here is the link to the 10.5@149.2mph pass, if you cant view it just add me as a friend and then you should be able to.

Towards the end in this vid you can see the vid from the gopro on my car.

This vid is of it on the street day after the dyno on drag radials, just roasting 4th and 5th off the limiter. 5th gear at 9700rpm logged a tire speed of 205mph, when I let off the logs still showed I was doing 175mph Lets just say my buddies that went for a ride were in absolute shock. Sorry no sound, Iphone mic was not working.

Why was that pulsar hopping like Dr Dre's 64 Impala off the line? Sloppy suspension? It was an AWD car right?

Yeah the gtir is awd and crappy driver and suspension setup more than likely. It needs more power off the line. Best thing to do is to get it to squat and stay squated not rebound like that. You also want to see the back tires break loose a bit and then catch. Definitely needed more rpm or boost build off the line to do it.

Not sure about the crappy driver but, the hopping is due to having the center diff welded and locked.

My car has the same drive train as the awd Pulsar and it hopped even worse than that when I installed a locked center diff.

If you look at all the Nissan gts and gtir's back in Jamaica they hop around like that.

No wonder they break trannies. Maybe time to leave an lsd diff in the back and get it to squat and take off properly.

The hoping is also due to full traction at the launch. If it starts loosing grip it wouldnt be able to hop like that. Like I said maybe launching with more power down can solve alot of the issues. You look at all the evo's launching and they get the best times when the the back tires break loose a bit and it keeps the vehicle squated.
