Default My First Car ^.^ BUILD

(not sure if this is the right place to put this)
Hello you guys im new to honda-tech and I've finally got my own honda im 15 years old and i made all the money by myself bought it for 1,200 and it only has 170,XXX & its a manual swap Not too many honda enthusiasts in Michigan , I figure ill just document my build on this thread that way i could see what i did from the beginning till the end . it will be a really slow build because i don't have a job .
Its weird though its a HX With a EX Motor with VTEC and EX Rims
I dont know too much about cars but i figure i'd learn in the process .

This Might be a bit ricey but i think its pretty cool plan on wiring it to my vtec solenoid so anytime vtec kicks in the light turns on , Lost my key so i cant do it right now .

Painted the valve cover and just bought a cold air intake , was trying to do a wire tuck but the guy who had the car before me ghetto rigged the engine wire harness and i gotta buy a new one if i want to do it .

Welcome! Can't wait to see some progress! It looks like you have a good starting point. How about some engine pics? So, by EX engine, you mean D16y8 correct? it is stamped on the front of the engine, near the radiator.

IMHO, it kind of sucks it has those wheels. The HX came with 14" wheels made by enkie that look nice, were lightweight, and worth some money. Oh well...these will be just fine for now! Congrats on the purchase.

Yeah i really like the HX rims they look pretty cool painted white , kind of sucks how the rest of the models just have plastic hubcaps .
Yes im pretty sure it is the D16y8 or y7 , ill post some more pics soon .

If it has VTEC, it'd need a VTEC solenoid, which looks like this:
How sure are you that it's an HX? It has power locks, windows and a tachometer right? If I remember correctly, some HX's came in manual transmission as well, and with VTEC-E. If it doesn't have any power features, or VTEC, then it's almost definitely just a DX with EX wheels.

Shame you didn't have the HX wheels, they're much better than EM1/SI stocks.

If you want cheap but functional mods that then check the link in my signature.
I'm in high school as well, with a part time job, so I understand how your pockets are so limited.

Other than a tune-up, oil + filter, spark plug + wire + rotor + cap, fuel filter, brake pads, brake fluid change, radiator flush + coolant change. And grab some Wd-40 to wipe down the engine bay.

$10 Integra shifter, will need to be dremeled or cut + ~$30-$50 weighted **** (PWJDM Brass Knucle 530gm) + $5 DOT 3 Brake fluid + $10 Honda OEM Manual transmission fluid. Maybe even an energy suspension shifter bushing kit too ~$10
Total: ~$65-$85
If your Civic is manual, do the Integra short shifter mod, and grab a heavy shift ****! Maybe service your clutch fluid and refill your transmission oil too, and you will feel so much more comfortable.
Refer to links regarding integra shifter/shifter install here:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/showpo...1&postcount=11

$5-$10 for 48-led panel + $5 for a pack of bulbs (194 168 2825 T10) + $5 (31mm 3021 3022 3175 6428 6430 30922 DE3425) For lighting, the integra map-light with white LED bulbs I grabbed from Amazon, and the dome light a 48-led panel. the 3022 bulb for license plate trunk lighting. Amazing difference.
Total: ~$15 - $30
Refer to links regarding lighting/bulb sizes and integra map light install here:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/showpo...1&postcount=11

$20 240mm Convex broadway view mirror, another great little modification (not a ricey pain in the *** 5-panel mirror, this is fitting and functional and cheap too) Also a universal side-mirror tape-on blind spot mirror is great. ~$10
~$15 - $30
I'd also like to add Cluster changes, if you don't have a tachometer (measures RPM) then now's a good time to go search for the look you want.

Don't get too crazy doing a wire tuck. Do lots of research and try just hiding things first. Get familiarized with everything and once you feel comfortable start going to town. Bay pics? A steal for $1200, nice!

Sorry . I know its been a long time Ive been too busy too post on this thread but i would like too continue documenting the build ..

The Intake I ordered came in so i installed in the car

My Old Hood was scratched and dents , My fender also had rust on it so i found a 96 Honda Civic coupe same color but had a wreck in the back and took the hood and fender from there . it costed $75 for both . - November 21st . .

After that i ordered 5000k bulbs that gave the headlights a better look .

I then installed a Type R Lip for it which is actually my favorite thing on the car .

I then put on a rear tow hook

That's...a complete clusterfuck under the hood, but good job putting up with what you've got to work with and doing something with it.

Never hurts to check the head stamp and block stamp, so you know exactly what you're dealing with.

That IM is definitely a Y7, though. That thing used to be the bane of my existence.

Manifold is definitely a y7 and I cant see a vtec solenoid so the motor is probably a d16y7. BTW a HX has power windows/lock, and a tachometer but no sunroof or cruise control. Do you have power windows/locks?
