Does the crank pulley have a harmonic dampener?
cancels the second and third degree harmonic vibrations generated by the motor...
if it was a straight six or v12 it wouldn't need one
(engineers chime in here pleese)

The purpose of the harmonic balancer is to absorb unwanted vibrations that the cranks gives off. With out the harmonic balancer the vibration will effect your oilpump and rod bearings making them wear out faster. This is why you don't want a knife edge crank for street purposes.
well which part is the dampener? im lookin at a UR crank which is in my hands now, and it looks the same pretty much

Is that the N1 pulley? I thought the N1 pulley has no harmonic balancer.
That looks like a stock pulley from the backside.
I have a stock ITR pulley that has been machined to keep the harmonic dampner intact and then balance. Removed aprox 2lbs from the pulley. there are only groves for the ALt belt, a/c and p/s have been removed.
I have one I can sell IM me
