Default D16Y8 engine swap

I have a 97 civic with the D16y8 engine. i threw a rod through the block and need to swap engines. I have been looking for the same engine but cant find anything. My question is what engines will bolt right in with minimal modifications?

You will have to swap some things over from your old y8 to a d16z6 if you want. Or go to a non vtec d16y7 but then ideally would need to get the matching ecu. A d15b7 will bolt in pretty easily, distributor will fit too iirc, just need to swap over the crank sensor stuff.

May as well just get the correct engine, expand your search area. Or time for a B swap.

You can get a jdm d15b from an engine importer for about 900 and it will be direct bolt up and plug and play but id go with a dohc swap more bang for your buck

A D15b is not a direct swap. Sure it will bolt into the car, but there are a lot of obd2 things that would need to be taken care of. It can be done, but sounds over this guys head. I say try to find a y8 or y7. You will have to change the ecu if you go y7.

find a Y7 block(easy to find) throw a Z6/Y8 head on it if you want the fastest route.
