Default AEM CAI broke! Is there a warranty?

Today I opened my hood just to see what was goin on, cause I was hearing a VERY loud whistle whenever I lightly stepped on the gas. I looked at the intake, and the bar that bolts onto the car broke off the intake! There is about a 1.5" hole in the side of the intake, which is what was making that whistling sound. Im pissed, does AEM offer any warranty, if so for how long? Thanks!

same thing happened to mine. tranny mount has rubbed on the CAI so much that there is almost a hole in it about 2" up from the filter. whenever it does break through the hole will be about .75" long. and even though i haven't seen a hole...i too get the whistle when i'm accelerating. i kind of like the whistle though.

You all must be mounting it wrong. I check my AEM every so often because I heard of the tranny and ac lines rubbing problems. However I have good clearance on all these parts. I have almost an inch from the AC lines and 1 inch fron the tranny mounts. Check to see if your intake is pushed up all the way to the Throttle Body.

you know that rubbery screw that connects that "tab" off the intake piping to the chassis? if you put the screw on TOP of the tab and the tab is sitting directly on the chassis, it'll break a hole through your intake. check to make sure it was installed correctly.

i have the rubber spacer thing that goes between the intake and the chasis so it's not mounted metal to metal...but that's not my problem...it's the tranny mount. and there's no other way i can install it...it's screwed in right where it goes. damn tranny mount.

what i did was stuff a shop rag anywhere it was touching. this includes the AC lines and tranny mount. it was fine for about 2 years 'til i sold it.

I don't think AEM will have a warranty against this. AEM is notorious for having this problem because of how thin the wall of the tubing is and how tight the intake sits in the engine bay. In my opinion, I would swap the AEM for an Injen because of the thicker tubing wall - the power and design is pretty much the same.

I had the same problem, just call AEM ask for Robert Green. Tell him your problem and if you can send pics (digital camera helps) to him and he'll help you out. I sent my intake back to them and they sent a brand new one. to AEM. By the way they have a LIFETIME warrenty on all products they make.

He'll aske you for some pics first. Then he'll work w/ you. He'll want the intake back to look for himself and to see if there is any manufactures problems. So make arrangements to put the stock back in or find a short ram like I did. Took maybe all of 2 weeks to get everything squared away. I'm pretty sure you'll get a new one. Just don't be a dick about the whole thing.

If anyone is interested:

I have a used AEM CAI extension piece for sale from the 99-00 Civic Si.
This is the extension piece only. Color is chrome.

Also have a slightly used AEM bypass valve.

Please make reasonable offers if interested.

Thanks.
