just bought it yesterday after someone attempted stealing my car... plz lemme kno if u guys have had good experiences with it or not...

 

It's no guarantee, but what you did is buy yourself some more time. And in the autotheft, more time usually means that they will skip your car and move onto to the next one with less or no autotheft counter measures...

 

my civic got stolen with an alarm a club and an AUTOLOCK.

Layers are the key and a gated driveway and garage helps.

They really wanted my car 92 civic cx w/ jrsc gsr motor.

anyway its a nice layer of security.. the more devices they have to defeat the better... if I recall you didn't have anything else (your post on turning the wheel to "lock" the steering)... so the autolock is definately a step up/layer of security for your car...

 

it actually happened by my workplace in North Hollywood.. so no surprise there.. and yea for now this is the only layer of security i have, soon to come an alarm.. and what else can i do?

 

well installed alarm, kill switches independant of alarm, autlock, club, pager, hood locks, hood pin switches, proximity, impact/shock, tilt sensors, park in a garage, get a pit bull, park a beater in front of garage/behind the other car so they have to move that b4 they can even open the garage door, etc.. Lolz...

 

good choice with the autoloc purchase i bought three my self one for the cluth, gas and brake . jk well doesnt sounds like a bad idea but i do have one. which i think is a great layering in youre cars protection just add alittle more goodies to youre anti theft system autoloc

 

Where did you get it? I have been to kragen and they do not have it anymore. I want the autolock pro.

 

I got mine off ebay for $45 shipped. Just wait for someone to have a dutch auction and jump in.

 

i could have sworn I saw the autolock pro at Kragen the other day I was there.. it was like $59.99 or 59.95 or something.. is your local store just out of stock? or they didn't even have the tag/discontinued it?

 

My local Kragen had the one that goes on the steering wheel and protects the airbag. Maybe I will try pep boys tomorrow.

The Autolock Pro is BETTER. The keyhole is located in a much more convient location, feel sorry for those of you who bout the regular autolock...

 

the autoloc pro has a new bullet proof lock insert instead of a brass keyhole as did the regular autoloc. i bought mines at pep boys for 59.99 the regular one goes for 39.99 or 49.99 cant remember but the extra 20-30 bucks for the latest version is not bad at all. just put on youre autoloc at all times at least i do it would hurt to not put it on when youre going in the store just in and out and by the time youre out so is the thief with youre baby (car). i dont care if im leaving my car for a min or a hour i threw it on. those 5 second that it takes to put it on are worth my car.

 

I have one too..the cheaper one with the knife edge key(cant be copy)
at pep boy.
I warp the the lower part with leather so I wont get any more scartch on my leather seat.
It is very heavy compare to the club.

 

I got my Autolock Pro off ebay for about $48 shipped.

Edit: I just looked on Ebay and found this dutch auction. I bought it from the same seller. Only bad thing is the $12 for shipping, but it's still cheaper than Pep Boys or Kragen.

I think someone said they don't honor the warranty/insurance deductable theft guarantee if its not bought directly through them (www.autolock.com) or at a retail store.. not sure if this is correct or not.. but someone said that in another thread...

anyway if this is the case.. I think the $12 extra + tax ($48 vs 59.99) is worth it for them to pay the $500 deductable if the car does get stolen...

 

That was me, Autolock will not honor the $5000 theft coverage(or whatever your comprehensive deductible is) if it's not purchase directly from them or a retail store. Also, the theft coverage policy that autolock offers is good 1 YEAR FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. I purchase the autolock thinking the theft coverage policy was good for the life of the car but I was wrong. I was pissed when I saw inside the package that the policy is only good for one year from date of purchase.

Also, make sure you send the registration card in within 10 days. They will not honor the theft coverage policy if you do not send it in by 10 days from date of purchase. Secondly, make sure you send it with proof of mailing or some form of proof that it was sent. I have seem a member here who went to claim the autolock theft coverage policy when his car was stolen with the autolock secure on his car. Autolock refused saying he never sent in the registration card, so beware.

 

Is that the only difference??
