96 accord low fuel light
For those who have a working low fuel light, at what point does it normally come on? When the needle is on E or a little before, mine has never come on, I have taken the bulb out of the cluster and it tests good. The most I have ever been able to put in the vehicle at fill-up is 13.6 gallons, I think the capacity is around 17 gallons, so maybe I haven't gotten the level low enough for the light to come on?

Testing says to drain the tank. Add back less than 2.2 gallons, run the car and within four minutes the light should come on........You can always test the sender, jump the LT GRN/RED to the BLK, turn the key on.
When my low fuel light comes on its a sure sign my engine will stall soon. Or if I am on a hill it will stall instantly. Its not much of an advanced warning.
Mine came on when I went about 400, 410 miles on a tank (I get 27-28 mpg so I figured I had at absolute worst another 10-20 miles). at fill up each time (I was running my tank low to clean it out) I put 14.25 or so in the tank. mine's also 17 gal (96 LX). At this point the needle was lower than the E line. Typically I never run it low enough for the light to come on and I usually put between 12 and 14 gallons in the tank at a fillup (I almost always fill the tank)
so if you're only putting 13 or so youre not running it low enough for the light, in my experience.

The needle on the fuel gauge was dead on E and sometimes a hair below.
