I jut bought new tires today for my wive's 98 CRV. The guy that sold and installed the tires said my CRV need to alignent, he suspected it to be off abit. I thought you did not (cannot) alingned all wheel drive vehincles. So I do it , if it can be aligned front, back or both. Get back me with a clarification.

Of course you can, all they will really do is adjust the toe front and rear to stop your car eating tyres

 

Really, I thought he just wanted me to spend more than I should at his tire shop. This days, u do have to be skeptical. Anyone else have any feed back?

 

Front is adjusted by adjusting tie rod ends length on the rack end
Rear is adjusted with the arm on slotted holes in front of the RTA bush

Go out and check yourself, you will see these places of adjustment. Just because it is RT4WD doesnt change anything, it is the same as any other 2WD Honda

You will spend more at his tyre shop if you dont get it aligned because you will be buying new tyres much sooner

 

camber can also be changed by using shims front and rear.

Really? So if camber is out by a bit, you have to change the coils to bring it back up to factory height and correct camber?

 

Basically. You have three options
1) deal with it
2) replace shocks/springs to bring ride height back to OEM
3) get "reputable brand" adjustable camber arms then get a Certification inspection for $400 that makes note of all modifications and ensures they are safe. Camber must then be no more than +/- 0.5degrees outside of factory tolerance (its better to do this once your build is finished so you dont have to pay $400 each time you change something, but then you cant drive the car as all cars need a 6monthly road worthiness inspection and to get this your car must be certified if it is modified)

 

Wow, thats rough. Keeps all of the junk off the road though.

 

post pics of your old tires...that will tell me what angle/adjustment is the issue.

 

get the print out.. usually they measure it for free and theyll show you the numbers...
and theyll charge you after the adjustment..

if you go to a regular chain...firestone/goodyear big shops theyll do it by the book...

if your toes are more than +/- 1.0 ... have it fixed. theyre not gonna touch the camber..mainly because its not adjustable ...(maybe if you have an adjustable front UCA/ball joints front and rear and you have to specifically tell them, hey i have an adjustable camber)


but most of the time they will say you need it...even thought you off by a hair...
get the print out and see where you at...post it here...then just tell them you be back..

 

they wont do it...thats extra work...unless its an actual performance shop.. better do it yourself then have the toes aligned.
