I am having some transmission work done one my car and want to install an ` ATS` final drive unit. The car is my daily driver but I do about 17 open track events a year. I am considering having a ` GSR` 5th gear installed to bring cruising rpm`s back near normal. Anyone have any experience with this set up and is it worth it ( about $160.00 for the 5th gear ). Also, what clutch/flywheel combination seems to work best and is most cost effective. A friend recommended an ACT Ai4-HDSS clutch and Comptech chrome moly 10 lb flywheel and I can get a deal on an EXEDY clutch and Toda 9.2 lb chrome moly flywheel

 

I just installed a fews weeks back an ATS FD coupled with an Exedy clutch / Toda FW. Very happy with the results. No problem with daily driving.

don't know about final drive - makes car accelerate faster - but stock gearing ratio is bad enough for my daily driving..

i'm rockin the same thing: exedy organic and exedy flywheel on jdm FD.

 

I took advice from you Albert. My setup should be here within a week or two. I just got my Spoon cam sprockets from Leo

 

Exedy clutch / Toda FW / JDM FD here as well. Awesome!

 

It's a tad noisy, but I highly recommend the Cusco Super Single

 

Good clutch/flywheel combo.

I'd pass on the GSR 5th. Waste of money. So you rev 500 rpm's higher on the highway? You're still in the 'good gas mileage' range, so who cares?
