I have a question about launching
What are most of you guys launching at with slicks? My slicks are 22x8x14 and I have a 93 hatchback. Just looking for some suggestions thats all.
SHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! I was thinking more around 6000, but I'm still open for suggestions. I would think that 7 G would be kind of high thats all.

about 5000, but my factory computer will not let me launch any harder.try 5000 first and if it bogs increase your rpms about 250 each time until it quits bogging but does not spin the tires off.

figure this, I broke 2 trannys with lower powered D15B7 as the slicks would hook and SHOCK the spider gears. Since running nitrous, the slick HOWL in protest when launching that hard because they are slipping, but just barely.
BTW nice thing about rubber properties,it grips best when slipping a little.
BTW too much clutch breaks parts. I'm using a used Centerforce Dual Friction setup, hooks fine for me.

I can't launch any higher than like 3k on street tires without burning too long. What's the proper way on street tires? I've heard of feathering (so I can go higher in the rpm) but really don't know the proper way of doing this so I just hold it at 3k and drop the clutch; So what is the best way on street tires?
Hold it high, then let out smoothly without mashing the gas. Dropping shocks everything and usually snaps the tires loose. Like mistabone said, tirespin isn't always bad, but frying the tires is, so when you feel the wheels start to grip, let the clutch out the rest of the way and hit the gas. If you get it right it should hook and go.
Well, I can testify to launching too low and gripping TOO good. I launched at around 5500 and dumped the clutch... Well, some wheel hop and a blown diff later, I finally realized why everybody was telling me to launch at around 6500 or 7k. It really will break stuff if you motor grips and doesn't slip at all, because you have to think of it this way, if your tires don't give (slip) then something is going to flex and with stock components, they tend to break when they flex... Hope this helps.

. Are u saying to hold my rpm high like at 7k or something and instead of dropping the clutch ease off of the gas as I SLOWLY let the clutch go? This still sounds kind of etchy to me sorry can u explain a little more.
Must understand slip angle and rubber.
Wel thanks for everyone's replys. I went to the races this weekend at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana. I only got two runs (one true run). The first time I went up to the staging lane, I ran right through it (I had a long night, the night before) LOL I ran a freakin 14.0 @96.xx with a shitty 60'. I was like WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG??????!!!!!!!!!!!! I look down and my FRIGGIN NITROUS SWITCH WAS OFFFFF!!!!!!!! This was a funny weekend..........I've ran nitrous on the street, but never ran slicks. This weekend I was attempting to run slicks on the track(never done) and nitrous on the track(never done). AND ALL I GOT WAS ONE RUN, BECAUSE OF THE FREAKIN RAIN!!!!!!! But here goes..........
6000 rpm launch spinning through first gear (I think I need a 22" instead of a 20")
12.75@109.56
1.97 60'

I launch my crx at 6500 because that all my stock computer will rev to. and thats with 24.5*8*13 m/t slicks and a center force dual friction clutch.
On 22x9x13" slicks, I slip the clutch out fast at 8500rpms.
Not really breaking axles, because I'm slipping it, not dumping it.
Motor mounts do take a beating though.
I'm running a stock 2000 Si tranny (4.4 FD, no LSD), with stock axles.
Consistent 1.70 60 foots. Best of 1.693.
