i was wondering what type of gear oil to use in my 5sp.....i've heard of all sorts of **** from 80-90, 80-140, synthetic, and even regular 10-30 .....help

I use OEM Honda and it smells.

 

i will say redline mtl, so i can be on the anti-oem bandwagon as far as this goes.

 

i work at a honda dealer.....they even tell you in the manuel...use 10w30 or 10w40
only the newer hondas take the manuel fluid....you can if ya want....your tranny

JBONES Thats weird that they still make you use 10w 30 because I also was a tech for honda for two years and they always made us use 10w 30 until the honda mtf came out then they switched us over.The reason why the manual still says use the 10w 30 for the older hondas is because the manual fluid wasn't out yet when the manuals were printed.Its kind of like they came out with a new and improved formula,but alot of shops are still using 10w 30.

Gear oil? I know American cars and Toyota uses gear oil but not Honda.
