crx surge/fuel? PROBLEM!!
Hey i have an 89 crx si, with b20vtech, skunk intake.. Ever since the swap it has been feeling a little sluggish and I know that the swap is in excellent operating condition, only 20,000 miles on it. After driving for about five minutes or so, it will start to jerk right after i shift unless i step on the gas mid shift... it is almost always followed with a surge down in rpm in idle at red lights. Also at cold start it will usually idle at 1500 which it has always done, and isnt a problem necessarily, but over the course of my drive it seems like it is getting stopped up, as if there is a fuel issue. It also stalls on occasion when it surges and wont start for a few minutes... Im wondering if maybe the gastank is bad on the shell i put my swap into, maybe rusty or something, and is stopping up the in-tank filter bag... Any ideas? I am trying to rule out the engine itself such as sensors etc, because nothing has been adjusted since before the swap and it does not surge up, just down, and when it does it is always very sluggish.. so im thinking no power, rpms are dwindling, shell sat in maine weather for a while, must be fuel issue with the shell and i can rule out issues with the swap itself.. Any ideas? how would i start a diagnosis? thanks..
it has a hondata chipped ecu that was tuned a couple years back, but it wasnt having this probem before i dumped it into my crx.. the crx sat for a while in maine wheather, very humid, wet, cold, which is why im thinking that bad gas caused by rust in the tank and also the intank filter is blocked up as well.. also, i let it run to empty which means it was runnig gas from the reserve tank which is where most of the rust and gunk goes when it sits, which come to think of it, it wasnt doing this till i ran it out of gas.. not completely, but under empty line... so this could definately be cause by fuel
