Default P30 ecu swap

Hey guys.
I need to change my ecu.

I have an OBD1 p30 ecu, running a b16a2.

I have read up, and some sites are saying that you need to get the key and transponder with the ecu, and others are saying that you can just swap the ecu over.

Do I need the key and transponder to change my ecu?

Thanks.

No that's only for certain OBD2 ECUs

The OP is in Europe, a lot of OBD1 ECUs there had an immobilizer. If it has an immobilizer you will need to have the ECU reprogrammed at a Honda dealer to recognize your key. Also you'll need the red "learning key" IIRC.

i bought a vti with a burned out P30 ecu and could not find a salvaged ecu anywhere so i did some searching and got a refurbished and reprogrammed ecu from Lee at madfablab in the us. worked like a charm but im not sure if he can disable the the immobilizer by reprogramming

my JDM p30 had no immobilizer so I easily just unplug & put p28 with Hondata to a 92 civic(of course). Not sure bout europe, assuming thats where u are.

Thanks for the info guys.

I have an aftermarket immobiliser.
The car didn't come standard with one.
I'll make sure that if I get an ecu, that I get the keys, barrel and transponder ring too.

Yeah, I'm in Scotland.

Eh? I took a p28 ecu with immobilizer, and obd1 engine out of a car and swapped it into another car and never had to reprogram the ECU.
