i bought a cd player for my 1998 civic and i hard wired it? i hooked all the wires like it says on a diagram i found online and there is power going to it but the face does not turn on. but id i hook red and yellow wire from cd player just to yellow/red wire on car it works fine but it dont save me settings> please help?

 

Yellow 12v constant wire from deck > White Blue of vehicle radio harness
Red 12v ign wire from deck > Yellow/Red of vehicle radio harness
Black ground to black ground

If this is how you have it wired and it doesn't work meter/probe the power lines on vehicle harness side to see if you have constant power...which it sounds like you don't in which case you next step is to check fuses.

 

Yea meter might help.
